Going to the Cape

This trend caught my attention last season on Gossip Girl as Blair darted around town in a Kelly green cape matched with tall suede gloves.

Since then, I've had my eyes peeled for a more subtle version of the impossibly feminine and chic look. Here are some options I'm loving, and I'm closest to purchasing the military green option from Asos.

Lemon Squares

After last week's lemon ricotta pancakes, I decided we needed to cram in as many sweet lemony treats as we can before summer ends.

These have been a long time favorite of mine, and when I saw Smitten Kitchen's adaptation of the recipe, it took all of 2 seconds for me to get into the kitchen and start.

The squares were perfectly tart and moist and even better with a generous sprinkle of powdered sugar.

Lemon Ricotta Pancakes

The title of this post says it all.
I fell in love with lemon pancakes on a trip to San Francisco, and nothing has compared since. The tart flavor is so refreshing to a typically heavy dish, and I when I found this recipe, I knew it would instantly become a favorite.
I would recommend this recipe to anyone who likes lemon... or pancakes... or breakfast.
I skipped out on the lemon curd sauce, because I can't eat pancakes with anything but a small pool of maple syrup.
















tip: I separated the eggs and whipped the whites separately, folding them into the mixture at the very end. They were the lightest and fluffiest pancakes we ever had. Couldn't believe I made them!

During some research for my next B&N project, I stumbled upon these charming little key chains made of felt, by Lova Handmade. How sweet are these little birds and owls handmade from recycled eco friendly felt ???













They definitely brightened up my day!

White + Dark Chocolate

I never realized how much I love white chocolate until I made these cookies last weekend and devoured handfuls of the morsels as I prepped.
I adapted a recipe from Smitten Kitchen and replaced semi sweet chocolate with white chocolate morsels and added 2/3 cup of dark chocolate powder to the sifted mixture.
The end result were moist and chewy chocolate cookies with chunks of white chocolate that my friends seemed to love :)

Late Summer

I was deeply inspired last night when I went virtual window shopping at topshop.com. I have fall essentials on the brain, but some of their late summer pieces made it apparent that I am overdue for a shopping trip to the Soho location....like now.
