This is my third time getting Essie's "pepperoni" on my nails & toes. It is, in my opinion, the perfect cherry red for any season. It seems to go with everything, despite being bright red and has a matte quality so it never looks cheesy. Try it!

The New Sneaker

I'm not a fan of wearing sneakers, but I think I can handle these.

Sergio Rossi "satin pump sneaker"

Ash "strappy wedge sneaker"

Tory Burch "lace up wedge bootie"

I just bought this bronzing hue of rosy brown blush by Benefit.
It totally contours the lines of your face and adds a pretty shimmer that's just right.

More Cuteness from Coco Cake Cupcakes

How could I resist posting more of these charming treats from 'Coco Cake Cupcakes?'

Check them out, the images alone will make you smile...

If I had my way, I would eat a bulldog cupcake every single day.

Elephant and Castle

I may have found a place that tops any brunch I have ever had.
Elephant and Castle on Greenwich Ave in the west village may be small and crowded, but the food is good enough to put you in a food coma for days.

Eggs Benedict over apple french toast and bacon.

Last weekend, we found ourselves at Crumbs Bakeshop near Union Square. The weekend had thus far consisted of champagne and mac & cheese, so we decided to continue on the path of indulgence.

For me, chocolate with chocolate buttercream center.
For my husband, red velvet with vanilla sprinkles.

The chill factor

My fellow New Yorkers can relate to the crazy, unpredictable weather this spring. Hot, cold, warm, windy....getting dressed each morning has been the most troublesome part of my day.
I've been searching for some cute jackets to throw on over any outfit. provided me with some options that make this weather a bit more tolerable.

Can you tell the difference?

I've been a long time fan of Alexander Wang's Natasha pump. For a while, they were no where to be found. I see that Barney's has restocked their supply, but I also noticed that Aldo has done a dangerously close variation of the coveted shoe.
While in my opinion, the Natasha pump has more style and charm than Aldo's version, I'm leaning towards the $80 copy to satisfy my craving.

Alexander Wang "Natasha Pump" $540

Aldo "Stalcup Pump" $80

Conroy & Wilcox

There is something so special about jewelry that looks like it belonged to your great grandmother.

This is a look that Conroy & Wilcox capture in each and every beautiful piece they create.

I first fell in love with this sapphire and diamond flower ring and I soon found that all their gold and diamond pieces are just as spectacular.

Baked Mac & Cheese

I first made this while spending part of the winter in Florida. We were tempted by the gooey mac & cheese in the Whole Foods prepared food section, but I convinced my husband that I can make the same dish at home, using ingredients I felt comfortable eating.

I used the recipe here as a base but made some substitutions.

I eliminated the butter.
I use 1% milk
For cheese I combine low fat jalapeno muenster, low fat sharp cheddar, and low fat dill havarti.

The result is crispy on top and gooey in the middle.

Wedge It

My Cynthia Vincent for Target Wedges have arrived just in time for the warm weather. They are just what I expected with their gorgeous styling, warm cognac hue and easy to walk in wedge.

Steve Madden Tuscaan Wedges

Meatless Mondays

I first heard of Meatless Mondays here.

Their idea is to reduce meat consumption 15% in order to improve our personal health by lowering cancer risk, heart disease, and improve overall diet, all while helping the planet.

I love the idea and I'm looking forward to starting this Monday.

Some of my favorite vegetarian meals:
Vegetable burrito
Vegetable lasagna

Quinoa and roasted vegetable salad
Veggie Quiche
Mushroom tart

Friends who brunch

A new brunch spot was born last weekend when our best friends were in town for the weekend.
We only had an hour to squeeze in a last minute meal before they left.
Fiddlesticks on Greenwich Avenue is the perfect spot for a quick and scrumptious brunch. For $10 they offer a meal from their Brunch menu including a yummy smoked salmon omelette (which is what I ordered) plus 2 drinks of your choice. I had to try the Bloody Mary, which I must say was a close second to my beloved version at Cafeteria.

Georgetown Cupcake

My best friend and her husband visited us this weekend from DC.
Along with other treats, they managed to tote two of the yummiest and prettiest cupcakes I've ever seen, from Georgetown Cupcake. I've been wanting to try one of these for months now, and the wait was worth it!

For me, red velvet with cream cheese frosting. For my husband, chocolate topped with chocolate crunch. Both were sensational.
